The Canyon Roads
"Proficient Motorcycling"
Tour

This tour is a rider's dream. Designed with the experienced
rider in mind, we cover more miles than the other tours and at
a faster pace. The route is selected with the "grin factor"
of the road the primary concern.
One of the participants on this tour will be David L. Hough,
moto-journalist and author of the book "Proficient Motorcycling".
David will be offering free riding skills seminars and personal
coaching throughout the tour for those who are interested. "Personal
Coaching" means David will follow any rider who wishes and
offer advice about skills and habits. The daily seminars will
address many aspects of rider skills and some of the best roads
in the world are right outside the door!
Fortunately, some of these roads just happen to pass through
red-rock
canyons like along the Colorado
River near Moab. Or the magical rock formations of Bryce and Zion
National Parks. The road from Boulder to Escalante is one of the
finest anywhere - on that stretch you won't even care about the
scenery!
Down the "Grand Staircase" with a stop at the north
Rim of the Grand Canyon, then up into Monument Valley for a taste
of Old Western Movie scenery.

Now that you've enjoyed thousands of curves through the canyons,
we'll head up into the mountains! A night in Durango and we're
off to the high elevations and thrilling curves that you'll find
only on the backroads of Colorado.
The same factor that treats us to the changing colors of fall
also can bring some interesting weather in mid-September, so from
this point each day we have a "high road" and a "low
road". Our lodging is in the mountain valleys at lower elevations,
so if a storm front moves in, we'll take the low road. Hopefully
(as last year) the weather will be perfect and we'll take the
high road every day. The low road is also usually shorter and
is a daily option.

You thought all those curves yesterday were enough? After
a night in Buena Vista, we'll take you on cruise in the morning
along the Arkansas river, then north on some amazing roads almost
in the shadows of Pike's Peak. (All the tourists are on the other
side and the road is nearly empty). Or, the northern route with
hundreds more curves to the front range of the Rockies, along
the Peak to Peak Highway and ending in Longmont.
The tour will leave Longmont, Colorado on Tuesday, September
11th, and return to Longmont on September 21st, 2001
The Canyon Roads Tour

all taxes and gratuities, airport pickup, and all the other extras

This tour is set up differently than our other tours. Pace
will be faster, distances longer with fewer stops, more riding
and somewhat less sightseeing. Imagine: eleven days with fellow
motorheads on twisty backroads. And this year with the unusual
opportunity to hone your skills too.
We're going - c'mon
along!
